Addicks Reservoir

The Addicks Reservoir and Addicks Dam in conjunction with the Barker Reservoir prevent downstream flooding of Buffalo Bayou in the City of Houston. Both reservoirs were authorized under the Rivers and Harbors Act of June 20, 1938, which were modified by the Flood Control Acts of August 11, 1938; September 3, 1954; and October 27, 1965.

Addicks, Houston

Addicks is an area of Houston that was formerly its own community. Addicks, a railroad stop for the Bear Creek community, was named after its original postmaster, Henry Addicks, in 1884. The original town site was located just south of the intersection of Patterson Road and Highway 6. The Addicks Bear Creek Cemetery contains the graves of many of the original German settlers. The town and surrounding community were destroyed by the Hurricane of 1900 but were quickly rebuilt.

The Richard E. Berry Educational Support Center is a multi-purpose sports complex located in Cypress, Texas. It was completed in March 2006 and consists of five separate facilities: an arena, stadium, theater, conference center and food production center.
