Diana, Texas

Diana is an unincorporated community in Upshur County, Texas, United States. The community is North of Longview and South of Ore City on highway 259. The community of Diana is made up of many smaller communities. These are Ashland, James, Diana, Graceton, Stamps, Sand Hill, Valley View, and part of Snow Hill. The New Diana Independent School District serves area students. The district, located at the intersection of highways 154 and 259, was formed from local schools that were consolidated.

Texas and Northern Railway

The Texas and Northern Railway is an eight-mile (13 km) railroad connecting Lone Star, Texas, to the former Louisiana and Arkansas Railway, now a line of the Kansas City Southern Railway, between Daingerfield and Hughes Springs. When it started operations in 1948 to serve the Lone Star Steel Company, of which it is a wholly owned subsidiary, the revenue cutoff for a Class I railroad was $1 million, and the Texas and Northern made just more than that per year.

Upshur County, Texas

Upshur County is a county located in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2010 census, the population was 39,309. The county seat is Gilmer. Upshur County is part of the Longview Metropolitan Statistical Area as well as the Longview–Marshall Combined Statistical Area. The county is named for Abel P. Upshur who was U.S. Secretary of State during President John Tyler's administration.
