Scurry County, Texas

Scurry County is a county located in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2010 census, its population was 16,921. Its county seat is Snyder. Scurry County was one of forty-six prohibition, or entirely dry, counties in the state of Texas, until a 2006 election approved the sale of beer and wine in Snyder, and a 2008 election approved the sale of liquor by the drink throughout the county.

KSNY (AM)

KSNY (1450 AM, "Life 1450") is the first radio station to air in Snyder, Texas. Before the advent of FM as a mainstream medium, KSNY adopted a block format, meaning different formats at different times of the day. In the 1970s, KSNY started the day with News and Talk, then in the mornings played Country Music; in the afternoons Adult Contemporary and at night Top 40 formats.

KGWB

KGWB is a radio station licensed to serve Snyder, Texas. The station is owned by Western Texas College and licensed to the Scurry County Junior College District. It airs a college radio format. The station was assigned the KGWB-FM call letters by the Federal Communications Commission on June 26, 2008. This station is currently on the air. Broadcast students will eventually run the station as their classes progress. The basketball games for Western Texas College are broadcast on KGWB.

KSNY-FM

KSNY-FM (101.5 FM, "Twister 101.5") is the companion station to KSNY (AM). The station began in 1980 at 101.7 mHz as 'FM-102' with an Easy Listening format. The station was automated in the beginning until its move to 101.5 and the format change to country. The station now has coverage in the Big Spring and Abilene markets. In 2001, KSNY began a sister station, 98.9 KLYD "Real Rock. " but it was automated until 2003.
