Foard County, Texas

Foard County is a county located in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2010 census, its population was 1,336. It is named for Robert Levi Foard, an attorney and American Civil War soldier. Foard County was one of 46 prohibition, or entirely dry, counties in the state of Texas until voters approved a referendum to permit the legal sale of alcoholic beverages in May 2006. Its county seat is Crowell, which is also the county's only incorporated community.

Truscott, Texas

Truscott is an unincorporated community in Knox County, Texas, United States. According to the Handbook of Texas, the community had an estimated population of 50. It is located at {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:33|45|15|N|99|48|40|W|type:city | |name= }} (33.7542544, -99.8112042), along FM 1756 in north central Knox County, approximately 100 miles north of Abilene. The community was settled in the 1880s and was named after J.J. Truscott, a local pioneer.

Battle of Pease River

The Battle of Pease River occurred on December 18, 1860, near the town of Margaret, Texas in Foard County, Texas, United States. The town is located between Crowell and Vernon within sight of the Medicine Mounds just outside present-day Quanah, Texas. A monument on that spot marks the site of the famous battle between the Comanche Indians under Peta Nocona and a detachment of Texas Rangers and militia under Ranger Captain "Sul" Ross.
