Grand Saline is the third largest city in Van Zandt County and is a part of the Greater Tyler/Longview area. The name Grand Saline means "Large Salt" and is based on the large salt deposits and mine located southeast of the city, which Morton Salt company owns and operates, and is what the city is mainly known for.
