Irene is an unincorporated community in Hill County, Texas, United States. It is located approximately twelve miles southeast of Hillsboro, near the intersection of FM 308 and FM 1946. Irene had an estimated population of 170 in 2000. Area students attend school in the nearby town of Bynum's supporting school district. Although it is unincorporated, it has a post office and its ZIP code is 76650.

Emmett, Texas

Emmett in Texas, USA is a town twenty-one miles west of Corsicana in western Navarro County. Settled shortly after the Civil War, Emmett grew to about 250 people by 1900 with a school, a blacksmith shop, a grocery store, and two corn mill/cotton gins. After a railroad line was installed through nearby Frost, the population dispersed and dwindled. In 1990, an estimated 100 people still lived in the rural areas of Emmett, but the commercial aspects of the town no longer existed.
