Enoch, Texas

Enoch is an unincorporated community in Upshur County, Texas, United States. Enoch was established by members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with Samuel O. Bennion's organization of the Enoch Branch in 1911. The first Latter-day Saint settlers had arrived in 1906. In 1908 a Sunday School was organized at Enoch. In 1910 a building was built for the Sunday School. In 1930 it was only one of eight communities in Texas where the church owned a chapel.

Lake Gilmer

Lake Gilmer is four miles (6 km) west of downtown Gilmer, Texas, in the United States. It is located at State Highway 852 (SH 852). The lake opened on September 29, 2001. It is 1,010 acres (4.1 km²) in size and has another 1557 acres (6.3 km²) of land that is planned to be developed into hiking and nature trails.

Upshur County, Texas

Upshur County is a county located in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2010 census, the population was 39,309. The county seat is Gilmer. Upshur County is part of the Longview Metropolitan Statistical Area as well as the Longview–Marshall Combined Statistical Area. The county is named for Abel P. Upshur who was U.S. Secretary of State during President John Tyler's administration.
