The Devils Rope Barbed Wire Museum is a museum located in McLean, Texas, USA. The museum was officially opened in 1991 and focuses on barbed wire and its history. The museum is thought to have the largest collection of published material concerning barbed wire. The Devil's Rope Museum is housed in a converted brassiere factory and is dedicated to the history of barbed wire, fencing tools, and ranching heritage. Alanreed, Texas

Alanreed is an unincorporated community in Gray County, Texas, United States. It is part of the Pampa, Texas Micropolitan Statistical Area. The community was named for Messrs. Alan and Reed, partners in the contracting firm that laid out the present townsite for the Choctaw, Oklahoma and Texas Railroad in 1900. An earlier name for the place was Gouge Eye, in honor of a memorable saloon brawl. Alanreed is accessible via Interstate 40 and FM 291.

Battle of the North Fork of the Red River

The Battle of North Fork or the Battle of the North Fork of the Red River occurred on September 28, 1872, near McClellan Creek in Gray County, Texas, United States. A monument on that spot marks the site of the battle between the Comanche Indians under Kai-Wotche and Mow-way and a detachment of cavalry and scouts under U.S. Army Colonel Ranald S. Mackenzie.

Gray County, Texas

Gray County is a county located in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2010 census, its population was 22,535. Gray County is named for Peter W. Gray, a Confederate lawyer and soldier in the American Civil War. The seat of the county is Pampa. Gray County is part of the Pampa Micropolitan Statistical Area. Gray County was the center of the White Deer Lands Management Company, which ceased operations in 1957.
