The East Texas Arboretum and Botanical Society "ETABS" (over 100 acres) is an arboretum and collection of botanical gardens and historical buildings located at 1601 Patterson Road, Athens, Texas in the United States. It is open daily; an admission fee is charged. ETABS is a not-for-profit recognized by the IRS as a 501 (c)(3). Memberships are available and donations are welcome.

Henderson County, Texas

Henderson County is a county located in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2010 census, its population was 78,532. It is named in honor of James Pinckney Henderson, the first Attorney General of the Republic of Texas, and later Secretary of State for the republic. The seat of the county is Athens. Henderson County was established in 1846, the year after Texas statehood. The current county boundaries were set in 1850, with some reduction from the previous size.

Athens is a city in Henderson County, Texas, in the United States. As of the 2010 census, the city population was 12,710. It is the county seat of Henderson County. The city also calls itself the "Black-Eyed Pea Capital of the World. " Athens was selected as one of the first 'Certified Retirement Communities' in Texas.
