Lopezville, Texas

It is part of the McAllen–Edinburg–Mission Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town developed during the early 1960s as a trailer park. It is named for Francisco Solano López, a former president of Paraguay, a descendant of whom founded his namesake trailer park.

University of Texas–Pan American

The University of Texas–Pan American (UTPA) is a state university located in Edinburg, Texas. Founded in 1927, it is a component institution of the University of Texas System. The university serves the Rio Grande Valley and South Texas with baccalaureate, masters-level, and doctoral degrees. Since the institution's founding, it has grown from 200 students to over 19,000, making UTPA the tenth-largest university in the state of Texas.

UTPA Fieldhouse

UTPA Fieldhouse is a 4,000-seat multi-purpose arena in Edinburg, Texas. It was built in 1969 and is home to the University of Texas-Pan American Broncos basketball team. Located on the far east end of the campus, the UTPA Fieldhouse is the among the oldest Division I arenas in Texas. While capacity is officially listed at 4,000, a record crowd of 5,649 jammed the Fieldhouse in 1981 to see the Broncs battle Pat Foster’s Lamar Cardinals.
