Spur, Texas
Spur is a city in Dickens County, Texas, United States. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 1,088. On October 9, 2009, Spur celebrated its centennial with the dedication of a Giant Spur sculpture. The Giant Spur was built by local welder John Grusendorf. The event, sponsored by the Dickens County Historical Commission, was held at Dyess Park off U.S. Highway 70.

Dickens County is a county located in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2010 census, its population was 2,444. Its county seat is Dickens. The county and city are both named for J. Dickens, who died at the Battle of the Alamo. The Pitchfork Ranch is in Dickens and adjacent King County. It was managed from 1965 to 1986 by Jim Humphreys, who was also affiliated with the National Ranching Heritage Center in Lubbock. The Matador Ranch, based in Motley County, once reached into Dickens County.
