Louis C. Powledge Unit

The Louis C. Powledge Unit (B2, originally the Beto II Unit) is a Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) prison for men located in unincorporated Anderson County, Texas. The approximately 20,518-acre unit, co-located with the Beto, Coffield, and Michael prison units and the Gurney Unit transfer facility, is along Farm to Market Road 3452. The facility is located off of Farm to Market Road 645, 7 miles west of Palestine. The unit opened in July 1982 as the Beto II Unit.

Westwood High School is a 3A public high school located in Palestine, Texas. It is part of the Westwood Independent School District located in west central Anderson County. George Beto Unit

The George Beto Unit (B) is a men's prison of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice located in unincorporated Anderson County, Texas. The unit is located along Farm to Market Road 3328, 6 miles south of Tennessee Colony. The prison, co-located with Coffield Unit, Michael Unit, and Powledge Unit prisons and the Gurney Unit transfer unit, has 20,518 acres of land. The unit opened in June 1980. It has the Correctional Institutions Division Region II Maintenance headquarters.

Joe F. Gurney Unit

The Joe F. Gurney Unit (ND) is a Texas Department of Criminal Justice men's Transfer Unit located in unincorporated Anderson County, Texas. The unit is along Farm to Market Road 2054, 4 miles south of Tennessee Colony. The unit, on 20,518 acres of land, is co-located with the Beto (directly across the road), Coffield, Michael and Powledge prison. It is named for Sergeant Joe F. Gurney. While working at Beto, Sergeant Gurney was killed when his horse fell and rolled over him.
