Red River County is a county located in the U.S. state of Texas. It is named for the Red River, which forms its northern boundary. As of the 2010 census, its population was 12,860. Its seat is Clarksville. As of 2000, it had the lowest population density for all counties in East Texas. Red River County is the birthplace of John Nance Garner, 32nd Vice President of the United States. B.P.

English, Red River County, Texas

English is an unincorporated area in northeastern Red River County, Texas, USA, 11 miles northeast of Clarksville. English was named after Oliver English and Simeon English, Oliver English's uncle. Oliver English bought land on what is now English in 1840. In 1852 Simeon English brought three families and thirty slaves to the area to establish plantations. In 1910 English had a reported population of 100. From 1920 to 2000 English had about 92 residents.
