KBXJ Los Ybanez, Texas is an FM station in one of the smallest cities of license regulated by the Federal Communications Commission. The city was created for the purpose of authorizing sales of liquor, which was not allowed in the county and surrounding area. KBXJ was originally known as KYMI. Dawson County is a county located in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2010 census, its population was 13,833. It is named for Nicholas Mosby Dawson, a soldier of the Texas Revolution. The seat of the county is Lamesa. . It was founded in 1876.

Lamesa, Texas

Lamesa (pronounced "la-MEE-suh") is a city in and the county seat of Dawson County, Texas, United States. The population was 9,422 at the 2010 census. Located south of Lubbock on the Llano Estacado, Lamesa was founded in 1903. Most of the economy is based on cattle ranching and cotton farming. The Preston E. Smith prison unit, named for the former governor of Texas, is located just outside of Lamesa.
