Interesting facts about this location

KCBU

KCBU was a television station in Price, Utah, broadcast locally in analog on channel 3 under the ownership of Equity Media Holdings. Until January 4, 2009 KCBU was an affiliate of the Retro Television Network (RTV). The station had a construction permit to increase the power of the digital signal to 40,000 watts and was to have moved its transmitter to a peak south of Springville, Utah. This would have effectively given the station signal reach into the Salt Lake City market it was a part of.

Royal, Utah

Royal is a ghost town that existed in the early 1900s as a small coal mining town in Carbon County, Utah, United States. Originally called Bear Canyon, the town was renamed Cameron, Rolapp, and finally Royal, changing names each time a new owner took over. All that remains of Royal today are some stone walls, a couple of the mines, and a miner's dwelling. These remnants can be seen in Price Canyon. The historian and author Helen Z. Papanikolas was born here in 1917.

Carbon Power Plant

Carbon Power Plant, also known as Castle Gate Power Plant is a small, 190-MWe coal-fired power station in Utah, USA operated by PacifiCorp. Its units 1 and 2, rated at 75 and 113.6 MWe, were launched into service in 1954 and 1957. The plant is located at {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:39|43|38|N|110|51|51|W| |primary |name= }}, about 3 km north of Helper, Utah, on the east bank of Price River.

Castle Gate Mine disaster

The Castle Gate mine disaster occurred on March 8, 1924, in a coal mine near the town of Castle Gate, Utah (now dismantled), located approximately 90 miles southeast of Salt Lake City. All of the 171 men working in the mine were killed in the series of three violent explosions. One worker, the leader of the rescue crew, died from carbon monoxide inhalation while attempting to reach the victims shortly after the explosion.

Hale, Utah

Hale is a ghost town in Carbon County, Utah. The site lies just to the east of Scofield Reservoir, at an elevation of 7598 feet (2316 meters). In fact, the reservoir covers the upper part of town.
