The Essex-Orleans Senate District is one of 13 Vermont Senate districts included in the redistricting and reapportionment plan developed by the Vermont General Assembly following the 2000 U.S. Census. The plan applies to legislatures elected in 2002, 2004, 2006, 2008, and 2010. A new plan will be developed in 2012 following the 2010 U.S. Census.

Orleans County, Vermont

Orleans County is one of the four northernmost counties in the U.S. state of Vermont. It borders Canada. In 2010, the population was 27,231. Its shire town (county seat) is Newport. As in the rest of New England, few governmental powers have been granted to the county. The county is an expedient way of grouping and distributing state-controlled governmental services. It borders the Canadian province of Quebec.

The King Block is a national historic site located at 117 High Street, Barton, Vermont, United States. It was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places on July 20, 2002. It is privately owned. The building has three stories. It is a wood frame large apartment composed of several structures which were joined together. has been modified several times over its history. It started around 1870 as an Italianate single-family house.
