It is located in the town of Ferrisburgh, in Addison County. It is situated between the Green Mountains of Vermont and the Adirondack Mountains in New York. The Bay's name is from the clay concretions found on its shores which looked either like actual clay buttons or the moulds used in button making.

Chimney Point, Vermont
Chimney Point is an unincorporated community in the town of Addison in Addison County, Vermont, United States. It lies across Lake Champlain from Crown Point, New York. French settlers established the community of Hocquart near modern-day Chimney Point in 1730. This first settlement in Vermont grew to a considerable size before its inhabitants were driven out by the English. The community is the location of Chimney Point State Historic Park.

The Addison Senate District is one of 13 Vermont Senate districts included in the redistricting and reapportionment plan developed by the Vermont General Assembly following the 2000 U.S. Census. The plan applies to legislatures elected in 2002, 2004, 2006, 2008, and 2010. A new plan will be developed in 2012 following the 2010 U.S. Census. The Addison District includes all of Addison County as well as the Rutland County town of Brandon.
