Staunton (Amtrak station)

The Staunton Amtrak station is located at 1 Middlebrook Avenue in Staunton, Virginia. The station is downtown in the Wharf Area Historic District. The station is a stop on Amtrak's Cardinal line, which runs from New York to Chicago, and has restrooms and waiting benches, but no ticket office. It serves a large area of the Shenandoah Valley. (Staunton no longer has intercity bus service. The closest Greyhound/Trailways station is 30 miles away.

American Hotel (Staunton, Virginia)

The American Hotel was a historic hotel located in Staunton, Virginia. It was built in the wharf district directly across from the railroad station. It is now painted red, and houses a business. Earlier in its life, it had a set of two pillars in the front of the building. The American Hotel is located at 125 South Augusta Street, directly across from the Amtrak station in the downtown Wharf area of Staunton Virginia. In 2003, Emerald City L.P.

Virginia Hotel

The Virginia Hotel was built in 1847 in Staunton, Virginia, and quickly became known as one of the finest hostelries in the commonwealth. Built on the site of the old Washington Tavern, the northeast corner of Greenville Avenue at New Street, the Virginia Hotel gained fame during the American Civil War as the headquarters of Stonewall Jackson, and served, alternately, as a hospital for Confederate soldiers and as headquarters for conquering Union Gen. David Hunter.

Stuart Hall School

Stuart Hall School in Staunton, Virginia was founded by the Episcopal church as Virginia Female Institute in 1843. It was renamed in 1907 in honor of its most famous headmistress, Flora Cooke Stuart, the widow of Confederate cavalry leader Maj. Gen. J.E.B. Stuart.
