Hanover High School is a high school located in Mechanicsville, Hanover County, Virginia, USA. The school opened during the 2003-04 academic year with Dr. Carol Cash as Principal. The second principal of the school was Mr. George Sadler, who took on the role when Dr. Cash retired in 2007. Mr Sadler retired from the role at the end of the 2011-2012 school year. Dr. Dana Gresham joined the school as Principal in July 2012 after recently serving as an Principal at Rural Point Elementary School.

Battle of Hanover Court House
The Battle of Hanover Court House, also known as the Battle of Slash Church, took place on May 27, 1862, in Hanover County, Virginia, as part of the Peninsula Campaign of the American Civil War. On May 27, elements of Brig. Gen. Fitz John Porter's V Corps extended north to protect the right flank of Maj. Gen. George B. McClellan's Union Army of the Potomac.

Atlee High School
Atlee High School is a secondary school serving south-central Hanover County, receiving most students from Chickahominy Middle School. Atlee is a part of the Hanover County School District led by its Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Stewart D. Roberson. Vincent D'Agostino held the position of principal from 2002 to 2010, but then was named principal at The Hanover Center for Trades and Technology. Jennifer Cohodas now holds this position at Atlee.

Battle of Yellow Tavern
The Battle of Yellow Tavern was fought on May 11, 1864, as part of the Overland Campaign of the American Civil War. Union cavalry under Maj. Gen. Philip Sheridan was detached from the Army of the Potomac to conduct a raid on Richmond, Virginia, and challenge legendary Confederate cavalry commander Maj. Gen. J.E.B. Stuart. The Confederate force was outnumbered and outgunned and Stuart was mortally wounded while attempting to rally his men, dying the next day.

Varina High School
Varina High School is located in eastern Henrico County, Virginia, Richmond, Virginia. The current principal of the school is Tracie Omohundro. In 1909, high school students in Varina attended Varina School, the second oldest consolidated school in Virginia, which is now home to Varina Elementary. Seven years later, in 1916, the high school became accredited under the leadership of principal George F. Baker.
