S'Klallam (Jamestown)

The Jamestown S'Klallam is a tribe of the S'Klallam or Klallam Native American group on the northern Olympic Peninsula of Washington state in the northwestern United States. It was formed by members of S'Klallam communities along the eastern end of the Strait of Juan de Fuca in 1874 when, faced with the threat of forced relocation by white settlers, a group purchased a tract of 210 acres and established a community near Dungeness named "Jamestown" in honor of village leader James Balch.

The community is located about three miles southeast of Sequim, Washington, and about one mile northwest of Blyn, Washington. Schoolhouse Point is the location of Sequim Bay State Park. Prior to 2001, it was served by a general store.

It consists of 92 acres with 4,909 feet of saltwater shoreline in the Sequim rain shadow on the Olympic Peninsula just within Puget Sound. Sequim Bay

Sequim Bay is a bay in northwestern Washington, on the Olympic Peninsula. The bay is on the Strait of Juan de Fuca of the Pacific Ocean and is located east of Sequim, Washington and north of Blyn. Sequim Bay is about 2 miles long and slightly over 1 mile wide at the mouth. The name "Sequim" comes from a Native American word for "quiet water," as two large, overlapping sandbars protect the bay. Sequim Bay State Park is located on the shore of Sequim Bay.
