Salmon Lake Dam

Salmon Lake Dam (National ID # WA00291) is a dam in Okanogan County, Washington. The earthen dam was constructed between 1919 and 1921 by the United States Bureau of Reclamation, with a height of 54 feet and 1260 feet long at its crest. Salmon Lake Dam impounds Salmon Creek for flood control and irrigation storage, part of the larger Okanogan Project. The adjacent 1911 Conconully Dam and its reservoir, Conconully Reservoir, are also part of the same project.

Conconully State Park in Okanogan County, Washington is one of the Washington State Parks. It consists of 81 acres with 5,400 feet of freshwater shoreline of the Conconully Reservoir. Available activities include camping, boating, fishing, waterskiing, horseshoes, interpretive activities, wildlife viewing, and mountain biking.

Okanogan County, Washington

Okanogan County is a county located in the U.S. state of Washington. In area, it is the largest county in the state. As of the 2010 census, the population was 41,120. The county seat is at Okanogan, and its largest city is Omak. The first county seat was Ruby, Washington, which has now been a ghost town for more than 100 years. The name derives from the Okanagan language place name ukʷnaqín. The name Okanogan also refers to the region that also encompasses part of southern British Columbia.

Conconully Dam

Conconully Dam (National ID # WA00259) is a dam in Okanogan County, Washington. The earthen dam was initially constructed at a height of 70 feet in 1910 and 1911 by the United States Bureau of Reclamation, during the first generation of the Bureau's activity, then raised in 1920 and reconstructed in 1969. The dam's current height is 72 feet and it's 1075 feet long at its crest. Conconully Dam impounds Salmon Creek for flood control and irrigation storage, part of the larger Okanogan Project.
