Kitsap County is a county located in the U.S. state of Washington, named after Chief Kitsap of the Suquamish tribe. As of the 2010 census, its population was 251,133. Its county seat is at Port Orchard, and its largest city is Bremerton. Kitsap County was formed out of King County, Washington, and Jefferson County, Washington on January 16, 1857. Originally named Slaughter County, it was soon renamed.

Port Orchard
Port Orchard, part of Washington state's Puget Sound, is the strait that separates Bainbridge Island on the east from the Kitsap Peninsula on the west. It extends from Liberty Bay and Agate Pass in the north to Sinclair Inlet and Rich Passage in the south. It was named in May 1792 by George Vancouver after Harry Masterman Orchard, ship's clerk of Vancouver's ship Discovery. The city of Port Orchard is named after this body of water.

Dyes Inlet is an inlet on the Kitsap Peninsula in western Washington State, USA. Silverdale, WA is located on the north shore of the inlet and has a marina, waterfront park, boat ramp, and boardwalk. The west shoreline is part of Chico, WA and the east shoreline is Tracyton, WA. Dyes Inlet is connected to Port Orchard via the Port Washington Narrows, Port Washington being an earlier name for the inlet. It was named for John W. W. Dyes, a taxidermist with the Wilkes Expedition of 1841.

Illahee State Park
Illahee State Park, part of the Washington State Park System, is located in the hamlet of Illahee, Washington, USA, just north of East Bremerton, on Port Orchard Bay part of the Puget Sound. The park offers camping, hiking, and a boat launch and dock. Located within the park is one of the country's oldest Pacific Yews, which has been standing for approximately 400 years. The word "Illahee" means earth or country in Indian tradition.
