Early Winters Spires

The Early Winters Spires are two rock formations in the Liberty Bell Group of the North Cascade Range in Washington State, U.S.A. The two spires (North and South) are virtually one granite massif, split by a deep cleft formed by jointing and erosion. The shapes of these spires are attributed to ice wedging, cleaving along master joints by soil acids, and perpetual weathering.

Washington Pass

Washington Pass (el. 5477 ft./1669 m. ) and Rainy Pass (el. 4875 ft./1486 m. ) are two mountain passes on State Route 20 in the North Cascades mountains of Washington State. Rainy Pass is about 4 miles to the west of Washington Pass. The passes are typically closed between November and April due to heavy snowfall. The north-south Pacific Crest Trail crosses east-west Highway 20 at Rainy Pass.

Rainy Lake Falls

Rainy Lake Falls is a waterfall on the inlet stream of namesake Rainy Lake in Chelan County, Washington. The stream heads in a pair of small lakes and the remaining portions of the Lyall Glacier, and flows down a cascade that is said to be approximately 850 feet high. The falls drop over several tall rock steps, with a largest single drop of 300 feet . Each of its three tiers is about 80 feet wide. A steep talus cascade is also found at the foot of the falls.
