Northwest Indian College
Northwest Indian College, operated by the Lummi tribe of Black Native Americans as a tribally controlled institution of higher education, is located in Bellingham, Washington. Its President is Cheryl Crazy Bull, a member of the Sicangu Lakota from the Rosebud Reservation in South Dakota. Although the NIC campus is located within the Lummi Nation in Washington State, the College is the only accredited Tribal College or University serving reservation communities of Washington, Oregon, and Idaho.

The Lummi, governed by the Lummi Nation, are a Native American tribe of the Coast Salish ethnolinguistic group in western Washington state in the United States. Windward High School
Windward High School is the newest of two public high schools of the Ferndale School District (district 502), in Ferndale, Washington. Windward is part of the Small Schools Project, funded in part by a grant from the Gates Foundation, which seeks to establish small intimate learning environments within communities.
