Mountain Loop Highway

The Mountain Loop Highway is a highway in the U.S. state of Washington. It traverses the western section of the Cascade Range within Snohomish County. The name suggests it forms a full loop, but it only is a small portion of a loop, which is completed using State Routes 92, 9, and 530. Part of the highway is also a designated and signed Forest Highway, and is known as Forest Route 20. The highway connects the towns of Granite Falls and Darrington.

Barlow Pass (Washington)

Barlow Pass (elevation 2,361 feet) is a mountain pass on the west side of the Cascades in Washington on the Mountain Loop Highway between Silverton and Darrington. It is a popular trail head for access to the old mining town of Monte Cristo and has a branch off to hike up to Gothic Basin, which is about a mile in. The mining boom at Monte Cristo, starting in 1890, resulted in the need for access to the remote town.

Blanca Lake

Blanca Lake is located in the Henry M. Jackson Wilderness Area in the Cascade Mountains of the U.S. state of Washington. Blanca Lake sits in a basin surrounded by the peaks of Monte Cristo, Kyes, and Columbia. The lake is fed by the Columbia Glacier to the northwest and is drained by Troublesome Creek, a tributary of the North Fork Skykomish River. The glacier's cold, silt-filled melt water is what makes the lake a spectacular turquoise green color.

Virgin Lake

Virgin Lake is a small lake located at the edge of the Henry M. Jackson Wilderness Area along the Blanca Lake Trail in Washington, USA. The lake is 4,577 ft. (1,395 m) above sea level. Due to its elevation, and the wet climate in the Pacific Northwest, Virgin Lake is typically only accessible 4–8 weeks each year in July and August.

Deer Falls

Deer Falls is the uppermost waterfall on the North Fork Skykomish River. The falls occur within a short but impressive canyon just above the mouth of Goblin Creek. The falls are the second largest waterfall on either of the river's two forks, the largest on the North Fork and is said to be the best on either fork. At this point the river hurtles 90 feet in one drop into a deep, blue pool.
