Henderson Inlet

Henderson Inlet is a small, southern inlet of Puget Sound, Washington State, situated between Budd Inlet to the west and Nisqually Reach to the east. It is located in Thurston County and the nearest city is Olympia, the state capital. Henderson Inlet was named in 1841 by Charles Wilkes, commander of the United States Exploring Expedition, after James Henderson, who served as quartermaster.

Tolmie State Park

Tolmie State Park is a 105-acre day-use state park 8 miles northeast of the Washington capital of Olympia. The main attraction is 1,800 feet of saltwater beachfront at the mouth of a creek known as Big Slough. There is also an underwater diving area for Scuba diving.

2001 Nisqually earthquake

The Nisqually earthquake was an intraslab earthquake, occurring at 10:54 am PST on February 28, 2001. One of the largest recorded earthquakes in Washington state history, it measured 6.8 on the moment magnitude scale and lasted approximately 45 seconds. The epicenter of the earthquake was Anderson Island, about 17 km northeast of Olympia. The focus was at a depth of 52 km .

Anderson Island (Washington)

Anderson Island is the southernmost island in Puget Sound and is part of Pierce County, Washington, United States. It is accessible by boat or a 20 minute ferry ride from Steilacoom. Anderson Island lies just south of McNeil Island. To the northwest Key Peninsula lies across Drayton Passage. The south basin of Puget Sound separates the island from the mainland to the southeast, while to the southwest the Nisqually Reach of Puget Sound separates the island from the mainland.
