United States Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) awarded Rattlesnake Hills its appellation status on March 20, 2006, making Rattlesnake Hills Washington's ninth federally recognized American Viticultural Area. The Rattlesnake Hills AVA is entirely contained within the Yakima Valley AVA, which is in turn is entirely contained within the larger Columbia Valley AVA.

Toppenish High School

Toppenish High School is a public high school in Toppenish, Washington. It enrolls about 800 students in grades 9–12. The school colors are cardinal and grey and the school mascot is the wildcats. Top-Hi enjoys plenty of cultural diversity, with over 80% of the student body Hispanic. Despite the fact that over 90% of the students are economically disadvantaged, the school earned a silver medal in U.S. News & World Report's annual ranking of American high schools in 2008.
