Na Yeon Choi won her first major championship, four strokes ahead of runner-up Amy Yang. The U.S. Women's Open is the oldest major championship and the third of the LPGA Tour season. It has the largest purse in women's golf, at $3.25 million in 2012. It is one of 13 national championships conducted by the United States Golf Association (USGA).

1998 U.S. Women's Open Golf Championship

The 1998 U.S. Women's Open Golf Championship was contested from July 2 to July 6, 1998 at Blackwolf Run in Kohler, Wisconsin. It was the 53rd edition of the U.S. Women's Open. The champion was Se Ri Pak of South Korea, the winner of a 20-hole Monday playoff over amateur Jenny Chuasiriporn of the United States. Both age 20, Pak and Chuasiriporn finished the 18-hole playoff round tied at 73, and both parred the first extra hole, a par-5.
