Battle of Torvioll

The Battle of Torvioll, also known as the Battle of Lower Dibra, was fought on 29 June 1444 in Albania. Skanderbeg was an Ottoman captain of Albanian origin who decided to go back to his native land and take the reins of a new Albanian rebellion. He, along with 300 other Albanians fighting at the battle of Nish, deserted the Ottoman army to head towards Krujë, which fell quickly through a subversion.

Plain of Torvioll

The Plain of Torvioll, or the Plain of Shumbat as it is known today, is located in the Lower Dibra region in eastern Albania, north of Peshkopi. It is most famous for being the battlefield for Skanderbeg's first battle against the Ottoman Empire in the Battle of Torvioll which took place on 29 June 1444. According to a defter gathered by the Ottomans in 1467, the region of Lower Dibra included the northern half of Dibran territory.

Dibër District

The District of Dibër (Albanian: Rrethi i Dibrës) is one of the 36 districts of Albania, part of Dibër County. It has a total population of 62,825, and an area of 1088 km². It is in the northeast of the country, and its capital is Peshkopi. The district takes its name from the town Debar, in Macedonia.

Lura Mountain

Lura Mountain (Albanian: Mali i Lurës) is a mountain located in Lurë municipality in north-eastern part of Albania. The highest peak of Lura Mountain is Kunora e Lurës which reaches a height of 2,119 m above sea level. Lura Mountain has many forests. The most common type of tree is the Beech which is found on altitudes between 900 and 1,000 m (and ft) to 1,900 and 2,000 m (and ft).
