Petrelë Castle

Petrelë Castle (Albanian: Kalaja e Petrelës) is a castle in Petrelë, central Albania. Its history dates back to Justinian I. The castle of Petrelë has a rich history, containing a tower which was built in the 6th century AD. It is one of the tourist locations close to Tirana that attracts a great number of visitors. The Castle is perched on a rocky hill, above the village with the same name. It has a triangular shape with two observation towers.

Bathorë

Bathorë is an area just outside Tirana, the capital city of Albania in Eastern Europe. Much of the area is essentially a shanty town, although local and international charitable organisations are involved in laying drainage and water supply pipes, and in recent years a hospital and school have been constructed.

Mother Albania (statue)

Mother Albania is a 12 m statue located at the National Martyrs Cemetery of Albania (Albanian: Dëshmorët e Kombit) in Albania, dedicated in 1971. The statue figuratively represents the country as a mother guarding over the eternal slumber of those who gave their lives for her. There are 28,000 graves of Albanian partisans in the cemetery, all of whom perished during World War II. The massive statue holds a wreath of laurels and a star.
