Cape of Gjuhëz

The Cape of Gjuhëz (Albanian: Kepi i Gjuhëzës) is a rocky cape northwest of Karaburun Peninsula as well as the westernmost point of continental Albania. It projects 1.1 kilometres into the sea in the form of the tongue, thus the origin of its name. The altitudes of the cape slope gradually towards the water, whereas the southern shores form 30 to 40 metres (to ft) high steep cliffs that fall directly to the Ionian sea.

Bay of Vlorë

The Bay of Vlorë is a bay in southern Albania and the largest in the country. Studying the Bay of Vlorë has been one of the main projects of the navigation department of the University of Vlora in the last few years. The Bay of Vlorë is a very important place in world history, and was the scene, for example, of some of Caesar's battles. In one account, 18 ships full of merchandise have sunk in the Bay of Vlora.

Karaburun Peninsula, Albania

Karaburun Peninsula, Albania (Albanian: Gadishulli i Karaburunit) is the largest peninsula of Albania, located in the District of Vlorë, southwestern Albania, at the eastern side of the Strait of Otranto, where the Adriatic Sea meets the Ionian Sea. It has an area of 62 km and has no population. It is 16 kilometres long with a width that varies from 3 to 4.5 kilometres (to mi).

Sazan Island

Sazan is a small island in Qendër Municipality, Vlorë District, Vlorë County in Albania. It is strategically located between the Strait of Otranto and the entrance to the Bay of Vlorë and has an area of 5.7 km with no civil population. In addition to being the largest island in Albania, it is a military facility and sometimes in clear weather it may be seen by eye from the coast of Salento, Italy.

SM U-27 (Austria-Hungary)

SM U-27 or U-XXVII was the lead boat of the U-27 class of U-boats or submarines for the Austro-Hungarian Navy. U-27 was built by the Austrian firm of Cantiere Navale Triestino (CNT) at the Pola Navy Yard and launched on 19 October 1916. She was commissioned on 24 February 1917. She had a single hull and was just over 121 feet in length. She displaced nearly 265 metric tons when surfaced and over 300 metric tons when submerged.
