Eastern District, American Samoa

The Eastern District is one of the primary divisions of American Samoa. It consists of the eastern portion of Tutuila, American Samoa's largest island, plus the island of Aunu'u. The district has a land area of 67.027 km² (25.879 sq mi) and a 2000 census population of 23,441. It contains 34 villages plus a portion of Nu'uuli village. Among these are Pago Pago, Fagatogo, and Utulei.

Rainmaker Mountain

Rainmaker Mountain (also known as North Pioa Mountain) is the name of a mountain located near Pago Pago, American Samoa on Tutuila Island. The mountain is a volcanic feature known as a trachyte plug. This means that it is a volcanic intrusion made of extrusive igneous rocks having alkali feldspar and minor mafic minerals as the main components and a fine-grained, generally porphyritic texture. The average annual rainfall on the mountain is around 200 inches (5 m).

KSBS-FM is Samoa's first commercial FM radio station broadcasting a variety format including local Polynesian, oldies, easy listening music. KSBS-FM broadcasts religious programming on Sunday mornings as well as hourly news from BBC, NPR, VOA, Radio Australia and Radio New Zealand International. Licensed by the U.S. Federal Communications Commission to Pago Pago, American Samoa, it serves the general American Samoa area. Also known as "Island 92", KSBS-FM is owned by Samoa Technologies.

Pago Pago Harbor

Pago Pago Harbor is a large natural inlet in the central south coast of the island of Tutuila in American Samoa. The capital, Pago Pago is located on the inner reaches of the harbor, close to its northwesternmost point. A significant amount of debris and oil were dumped into Pago Pago Harbor in during the 2009 Samoa earthquake and ensuing tsunami, which devastated communities along the harbor's coastline, including Pago Pago.

Blunts Point Battery

Blunts Point Battery, also known as Blunts Point Naval Gun or Matautu Ridge Gun Site is a gun battery on Matautu Ridge near Pago Pago, American Samoa. It was part of the fortification of the Samoan Islands which took place after the attack on Pearl Harbor. It was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1987. It has recently been restored and is in good condition. It is a rare example of a World War II Pacific coastal gun which remains in relatively pristine condition.
