Valentín Alsina, Buenos Aires

Valentín Alsina is a city in the Lanús Partido of Buenos Aires Province, Argentina. It is located next to Buenos Aires city in the Gran Buenos Aires urban area. Together with Boedo, San Telmo and Nueva Pompeya, Alsina is known as a historical home of tango music. Also, and because of its rich history, Valentín Alsina is included as being among one of the 100 barrios porteños ('Buenos Aires city suburbs'). The city was named after politician Valentín Alsina.

Nueva Pompeya

Nueva Pompeya is a neighbourhood in the city of Buenos Aires, Argentina. Located in the South side, it has long been one of the city's proletarian districts steeped in the tradition of tango and one where many of the first tangos were written and performed. A neighborhood local, the legendary tango composer Homero Manzi, set a very popular tango in Nueva Pompeya, describing a melancholy landscape (“Pompeya and beyond the flood”) that, even today, defines much of the district's physionomy.

Barracas is a barrio, or district, in the southeast part of the city of Buenos Aires, Argentina. It is located between the railroad of Ferrocarril General Manuel Belgrano and the Riachuelo River, and the streets Regimiento de Patricios, Defensa, Caseros, Vélez Sársfield, Amancio Alcorta, Lafayette, and Lavardén. The name Barracas comes from the word barraca, which refers to a temporary construction of houses using rudimentary materials.
