Gay, Armenia

Guy (Armenian: Գայ; until 1978, Khatunarkh) pronounced "guy", is a town in the Armavir Province. The town was founded in the 1670s, and named for the wife of Sefi Khan; in 1978, it was renamed in honor of a hero of the Russian Civil War, Hayk Bzhshkian, whose nom de guerre was "Guy".

Ararat plain

The Ararat plain is one of the largest of the Armenian Plateau, stretches west of the Sevan basin, at the foothills of the Gegham mountains. In the north the plain borders on Mount Aragats, and in the south, on Mount Ararat. The Aras River divides it into two: the northern part lies in Armenia, the southern part lies in Turkey. The Ararat plain and the Sevan basin experience abundant sunshine - about 2,700 hours a year.
