Bowning railway station

Bowning is a closed railway station on the Main South railway line in New South Wales, Australia. The station opened in 1876 and closed to passenger services in the 1990s. The station and environs consisted of two island platforms with a large two-storey station building on the down platform. Despite its closure, the Bowning station building survives in good condition and is used as a private residence.

Yass, New South Wales

Yass (is a town in the Southern Tablelands of New South Wales, Australia in Yass Valley Shire. The name appears to have been derived from an Aboriginal word, "Yarrh", said to mean 'running water'. Yass is located about 280 km southwest of Sydney, on the Hume Highway. The Yass River, which is a tributary of the Murrumbidgee River, flows past the town. Yass is 59 km from Canberra. Yass has an impressive and historic main street, with well-preserved 19th century verandah post pubs .

Yass Junction railway station

Yass Junction Railway Station is the only remaining station serving the town of Yass in New South Wales, Australia. It lies on the Main Southern Line between Sydney and Albury. The station opened on 3 July 1876 as Yass but changed to its current name on 20 April 1892. The station is not in the town itself but is located approximately 4 km away near the Hume Highway.

Yass Valley Council

Yass Valley Council is a local government area in the Southern Tablelands region of New South Wales, Australia. The area is is located adjacent to the Hume and Barton Highways and the Main Southern railway line. The Shire includes Yass, Binalong, Bookham, Bowning, Gundaroo, Murrumbateman, Sutton, Wee Jasper and Brindabella. Yass Shire was proclaimed on 1 January 1980 following the amalgamation of Goodradigbee Shire and the Municipality of Yass.
