Hartley is a historical village in New South Wales, Australia, in the City of Lithgow, located approximately 150 kilometres west of Sydney. It is below the western escarpment of the Blue Mountains. It was once a major administrative centre on the Great Western Highway. It has since fallen into decline, replaced by other towns that are on the railway line. At the 2006 census, Hartley had a population of 497 people.

Oberon is a town and local government area in the central tablelands of New South Wales, Australia. The main industries are farming, forestry and wood products. The town usually receives snowfall during the winter months, owing to its high altitude. At the 2011 census, Oberon had a population of 2,459 people. It is the birthplace of Greens politician Bob Brown, Ken Sutcliffe, State motorcross rider Scott Saul and former Penrith Panthers star Mark Booth.
