County of Cavendish

The County of Cavendish is a county in Queensland, Australia. Like all counties in Queensland, it is a non-functional administrative unit, that is used mainly for the purpose of registering land titles. The county includes the northern part of the Toowoomba Region and the western part of the Somerset Region. The county was officially named and bounded by the Governor in Council on 7 March 1901 under the Land Act 1897.

Hampton, Queensland

Hampton is a town in the Darling Downs region of Queensland, Australia 147 kilometres west of the state capital, Brisbane At the 2006 census, Hampton and the surrounding area had a population of 477. Situated at the top of an escarpment on the Great Dividing Range, Hampton is one of the small hamlets located along the New England Highway between Toowoomba, (29 kilometres away) and Crows Nest (12 kilometres).

Perseverance Dam

Perseverance Dam is the second largest, (in terms of storage capacity) and the second oldest dam of Toowoomba city's three water supply dams. The other two storages used for Toowoomba are Cooby Dam and Cressbrook Dam which is located located downstream of Perseverance. Construction of this dam commenced in 1962 and was completed in 1965. Perseverance dam is located approximately 35 km Northeast of Toowoomba on Perseverance Creek, which is a tributary of Cressbrook Creek.

Cressbrook Dam

Cressbrook Dam is one of the three water storages used to supply Toowoomba and the surrounding region. The dam was constructed in 1983 for the former Toowoomba City Council, now part of Toowoomba Regional Council. The other two storages used for Toowoomba are Perseverance Dam and Cooby Dam. Cressbrook Dam has a surface area of 517 hectares with a total capacity of 81,842 mega-litres when full (78,847 ML usable) at an average depth of 15.8 meters.
