Theodore, Queensland

Theodore is a town in Queensland, Australia, situated on the Dawson River. The town - like the Canberra suburb - is named in honour of Labor politician Ted Theodore, Premier of Queensland (1919–1925) and Treasurer of Australia in the ministry of Prime Minister James Scullin (1929–1931). Theodore is located just off the Leichhardt Highway 565 km north-west of the state capital, Brisbane.

Dawson River (Queensland)

Dawson River is a river in eastern Queensland, Australia. It originates in the Carnarvon Range and flows southeast for approximately 400 miles where it meets the Mackenzie River to become the Fitzroy River, north of Duaringa. The towns of Baralaba, Theodore and Taroom lie on the banks of the Dawson River. Several weirs have been constructed along the river to provide water for cotton and dairy farming in the region.
