Holbrook, New South Wales

Holbrook is a small town in the South West Slopes region of New South Wales, Australia. It is on the Hume Highway, 356 km North-East of Melbourne and 491 km south-west of Sydney between Tarcutta and Albury. The town is in the Greater Hume Shire Council area which was established in May 2004 from the merger of Culcairn Shire with the majority of Holbrook Shire and part of the Hume Shire. At the 2006 census, Holbrook had a population of 1,263 people.

Greater Hume Shire

Greater Hume Shire is a local government area in the Riverina region of southern New South Wales, Australia. The Shire was formed in 2004 incorporating Culcairn Shire, the majority of Holbrook Shire and part of Hume Shire. The shire had a population of 9,815 at the 2011 census. The Shire is located adjacent to the Hume, Olympic and Riverina Highways and the Sydney–Melbourne railway. The mayor of the Greater Hume Shire Council is Cr. Heather Wilton, an independent politician.

Wymah, New South Wales

Wymah is a rural community in the south east part of the Riverina very close to the border of Victoria, Australia. It is situated by road, about 11 kilometres south from Bowna and 23 kilometres west from Talmalmo. Wymah is situated on the Wymah River Road accessible from Bowna. At the 2006 census, Wymah had a population of 205. The place name is derived from the Aboriginal word meaning "White Cockatoo". Wagra Post Office opened on 1 February 1879, was renamed Wymah in 1912 and closed in 1952.

Bowna

Bowna is a community in the South East part of the Riverina, New South Wales, Australia. It is situated by road, about 7 kilometres south west from Mullengandra and 18 kilometres east from Table Top. The former village of Bowna was inundated by the Hume Reservoir but the locality and community outside of the village still exist. Bowna Post Office opened on 1 May 1869 and closed in 1994.
