Huonville, Tasmania

Huonville is a town on the Huon River, in the south-east of Tasmania, Australia. The town lies within the Huon Valley Council area. It lies 38 km south of Hobart on the Huon Highway. At the 2006 census, Huonville had a population of 1,806 and at the 2011 census had a population of 1741. The first Europeans to set eyes on the Huon River were the crew commanded by Admiral Bruni d'Entrecasteaux. The river was named by him in honour of his second in command, Captain Huon de Kermadec.

Cradoc, Tasmania

Cradoc (Australian postcode 7109) is a small township on the eastern side of the Huon River south of Huonville, Tasmania. At the 2006 census, Cradoc had a population of 743. In 1792 Rear Admiral Antoine Raymond Joseph de Bruni D’Entrecasteaux was a French navigator, commissioned to search for La Perouse’s lost expedition, and explore our southern coastline. La Perouse had sailed from Botany Bay in 1788 and disappeared.

The Kingborough Council or Municipality of Kingborough is a local government area of Tasmania, just to the south of Hobart, Tasmania. It includes the Hobart satellite town of Kingston and its surrounding suburbs, as well as several surrounding towns including Kettering, Margate, and Snug. It also includes the whole of Bruny Island.

Margate, Tasmania

Margate is a small seaside town on the Channel Highway between North-West Bay and the Snug Tiers, 7 kilometres south of Kingston in Tasmania, Australia. At the 2006 census, Margate had a population of 1,368. Although more people live in the immediate region around the town. Margate is part of the Kingborough Council and is a frequent 'pit-stop' for those travelling south towards Snug, Kettering or Bruny Island.
