Cornwall Land District

Cornwall Land District is one of the twenty land districts of Tasmania which are part of the Cadastral divisions of Tasmania. It contains most of Launceston. It was formerly Cornwall County, one of the 18 counties of Tasmania and one of the first eleven proclaimed in 1836. It was named after the then southwestern county of England. An earlier Cornwall County existed from 24 September 1804 until 1813 as an administrative division whilst Van Diemen's Land was administered as two units.

Rossarden, Tasmania

Rossarden is an old mining town in central Tasmania, located 19 km from Avoca. Located in a valley below Stacks Bluff (1527 m), it is an old tin mining town, the mine closed in 1982. Prior to this Rossarden was one of Australia's major tin producing towns. At the 2006 census, Rossarden and the surrounding area had a population of 172. The post office opened on 20 November 1933. Nearby locations include Storeys Creek, where there was a wolfram mine, Fingal and Avoca.

Mathinna, Tasmania

Mathinna is a small Australian town in the north-east of Tasmania, 63 km east of Launceston. It was named after a young Aboriginal girl befriended by the Lieutenant Governor of Van Diemen's Land, Sir John Franklin and his wife, Lady Jane Franklin. The town became established as a gold mining centre, shortly after gold was discovered in the area in the 1890s. The Golden Gate Mine in Mathinna was one of Tasmania's highest-yield gold mines, second only to Beaconsfield.

Stacks Bluff

Stacks Bluff is a mountain in the Ben Lomond National Park in Tasmania, Australia. It is the sixth highest mountain in Tasmania. It is a major feature of the national park, and is a popular venue with bushwalkers and mountain climbers.
