Schöpfl

Schöpfl is the highest hill (893 m) in the Wienerwald mountain range (Vienna woods), the north-easternmost part of the Alps. Geologically, it belongs to the flysch Alps. The main top of the wooded mountain range carries a high observation tower which enables a 100 km sight to the Northern Limestone Alps in the west and the Carpathian Mountains in the east. At the Mitterschöpfl (approx. 880 m above sea level), the University of Vienna's Leopold Figl observatory is located.

Conrad Observatory

The Conrad Observatory is an underground geophysical research facility of the Central Institution for Meteorology and Geodynamics (ZAMG) in Austria. The basic task of the observatory is monitoring relevant physical parameters that are of decisive importance for our understanding of processes on and below earth.

Myra Falls (Lower Austria)

The Myra Falls are located in a ravine in the municipality of Muggendorf in the Austrian federal state of Lower Austria (N.B. not to be confused with the Mira Falls 50 km further west in the Ötschergräben). The ravine has been cut by the Myrabach, a small tributary of the Piesting. The Myra, as the stream is also known, rises at the foot of the Unterberg from the Myralucke, a spring steeped in legend, that is fed by an underground lake.
