Argosstadion Achter de Kazerne

The Argosstadion Achter de Kazerne is a football stadium in Mechelen, Belgium. It is used for football matches and is the home ground of Y.R. K.V. Mechelen. The stadium holds 13,213. The stadium is called Achter de Kazerne, which means the same as 'Behind army Barracks'. It is called this way because one time the stadium was located behind an army base. Years have gone by and the army base has disappeared but over time people kept calling it Achter de Kazerne.

Nekkerspoel

Nekkerspoel is a hamlet of Mechelen, Flanders, Belgium, immediately east of the city. The name means pool of one or more Nekkers or water demons (in older Dutch necker, devil, evil spirit; from Latin niger, negr-, black), and it is assumed that in earlier centuries locals taking a shortcut trodding through the marshlands of which the Mechels Broek still remains, may have strayed off safer pathways and lost their lives.

The Archbishops of Mechelen-Brussels are the head of the Archbishopric of Mechelen-Brussel of the Catholic church in Belgium. It currently encompasses all of Belgium, making them the head of the Roman Catholic faith in the country. The current Archbishop is André-Mutien Léonard.

Hof van Savoye

The Hof van Savoye or Palace of Margaret of Austria is an early 16th century building in Mechelen, Belgium. It was one of the first Renaissance buildings in northern Europe. Archduchess Margaret of Austria, Governor of the Netherlands, was granted a house located in the Korte Maagdenstraat (Virgins Short Street), but she found it too small and started an ambitious expansion campaign in 1507.

St. Rumbold's Cathedral

St. Rumbold's Cathedral (or Sint-Romboutskathedraal, in Dutch) is the Belgian metropolitan archiepiscopal cathedral in Mechelen, dedicated to an assumedly Irish or Scottish Christian missionary and martyr who had founded an abbey nearby. His remains are rumoured to be buried inside the cathedral.
