Ekeren

Ekeren is a northern district of the municipality of Antwerp in the Flemish Region of Belgium. The suburb celebrated its 850th birthday in 2005; the name of the town was first mentioned in 1155, as "Hecerna". Ekeren was a distinct municipality with its own town hall, mayor, and city council until 1983, when most of it, along with 8 other municipalities was merged into the city of Antwerp.

Antwerp International School

Antwerp International School (AIS) is a private coeducational preschool, prekindergarten, kindergarten, elementary, middle, and high school located in Antwerp, Belgium. The school was founded in 1967 and grew from an enrollment of 65 students to approximately 450 students. The first senior class of AIS graduated in 1971, and the school celebrated its 40th anniversary in December 2007.

Battle of Ekeren

The Battle of Ekeren, June 30, 1703 was a battle of the War of the Spanish Succession. The French surrounded a Dutch force, which barely avoided destruction. This battle ended hope of a decisive allied victory in the Spanish Netherlands in 1703.

Wilmarsdonk

Wilmarsdonk was a village in Belgium, north of Antwerp, which has disappeared under the Port of Antwerp expansion. The village was first mentioned in 1155 and merged into the city of Antwerp in 1927. The village was sacrificed to the expansion of the harbor and destroyed in 1965. Only the church tower was preserved.

Oorderen

Oorderen was a small Belgian village near the city of Antwerp until 1965. It was demolished because of the extension of the Port of Antwerp. The village was first mentioned in 1116 and merged into the city of Antwerp in 1927. In its place came Plant 2 of General Motors, which is today Opel Antwerp. Another part of the village was taken by the railroad yard Antwerp-North and railway station Antwerp-Harbour.
