Battle of Geel

The Battle of Geel was a major battle between British and German troops in Belgium during the Second World War. It occurred between 8-23 September 1944, in and around the Flemish city of Geel, and was one of the largest and bloodiest battles to occur during the liberation of Belgium. The battle occurred in two phases. The first phase of the fighting took place at the Albert Canal and in the centre of Geel itself from 8-12 from September.

De Leunen

De Leunen is a football stadium in Geel, in the Belgian province of Antwerp. It has a capacity of 10,022, making it the 22nd-largest football stadium in Belgium. It used to be the home ground of K.F.C. Verbroedering Geel until the club went into liquidation in 2008. Subsequently, the neighbouring club of FC Verbroedering Meerhout left their Kattenstadion in Meerhout to play at De Leunen. The club then changed its name to Verbroedering Geel-Meerhout.

European School, Mol

The European School of Mol is third of the European Schools. It is in Mol, a municipality in the Belgian province of Antwerp. The school was established in 1960 for children of the Central Bureau for Nuclear Measurements, Euratom, Eurochemic, and the SCK•CEN (Belgian Nuclear Research Centre) personnel. However, the school has also welcomed children from other European or overseas families who live and work in the area.
