Mangaratiba

Mangaratiba is a municipality located in the Brazilian state of Rio de Janeiro. Its population is 29,272 (2005) and its area is 352 km². Muddy beaches and the incongruous industrial presence of the Terminal de Sepetiba put off many people stopping at Mangaratiba. The town setting is attractive, with a mountain backdrop, a beautiful bay in front with fishing boats at anchor and a late eighteenth-century church dominating the main square.

Ilha Grande

Ilha Grande ('Big Island') is an island located off the coast of Rio de Janeiro state, Brazil, and part of the municipality of Angra dos Reis. The island is largely undeveloped and noted for its scenic beauty, which includes tropical beaches, luxuriant vegetation and a rugged landscape. The land area is 193 km² and the highest point is Pico da Pedra D'Água, at 1031 m. It once held a notorious prison, now closed.

Vila do Abraão

Vila do Abraão is the town on Ilha Grande. It is part of the Angra dos Reis municipality in the state of Rio de Janeiro. The town is located in a cove and is the largest urban center on the island, with roughly 3,000 inhabitants. It contains most of the island's infrastructure and is therefore considered the "capital" of the island.

Itaguaí

</TABLE> Itaguaí is a municipality located in the Brazilian state of Rio de Janeiro. Its population was 93,662 (2005) and its area is 272 km². The city was founded in 1688. Itaguaí is located ca. 75 km west of the city of Rio de Janeiro on the road to Santos (SP). Its location between the shore of Sepetiba Bay and the Atlantic Rainforest offers great natural beauty. The port of Itaguaí was opened in 1982. One of its main trading goods is alumina.
