Vacha Reservoir

Vacha Reservoir is a body of water associated with a dam in Devin Municipality, south Bulgaria. It is part of the Vacha Cascade Joint Implementation Project involving three more dams and four power stations. The two other existing dams on the Vacha River are the Kamak Dam and the Tsankov Dam; the Krichim Dam is in the implementation stage. Completed on 5 November 1975, the Vacha Dam is situated 680 metres above sea level.

Vacha (river)

The Vacha is a river in south Bulgaria, one of the main right tributaries of the Maritsa. It is 105 km long and is formed by the confluence of the Shirokolashka reka and the Byunovska reka. The river passes through Krichim Dam and Vacha Dam that secure drinking water for Plovdiv and its plains. The Vacha runs through the Rhodopes forming a deep valley where the two dams are located. An important town in the valley is Devin.

Marvelous Bridges

The Marvelous Bridges or Wonderful Bridges (Bulgarian: Чудни мостове, Chudni mostove) are natural arches in the Rhodope Mountains of southern Bulgaria. They are located in the karst valley of the Erkyupriya River in the Western Rhodopes at 1,450 metres metres above sea level, at the foot of Persenk Peak.

Rodopi Municipality

Rodopi municipality is situated in the Plovdiv Province, southern Bulgaria. As of 2006 the population is 33,111. It occupies parts of the Upper Thracian Plain to the south of Plovdiv and the northern-most slopes of the central Rhodopi mountains. Its territory is 524.8 square kilometres . The backbone of the economy is agriculture which employs around 80% of the population. Amongst the most important crops are grapes with annual production of 15,000 tonnes.

Perushtitsa

Perushtitsa or Perushtitza is a Bulgarian town located in the Plovdiv Oblast at the foot of the Rhodopes, 22 kilometers south of Plovdiv. The town is famous throughout Bulgaria for the fight that took place there in 1876 during the April Uprising against the Ottoman reign. During the suppression of the uprising by Turkish irregulars, the majority of the residents were slaughtered.
