Beaverhill Lake Group

The Beaverhill Lake Group is a stratigraphical unit of Middle Devonian to Late Devonian age in the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin. It takes the name from Beaverhill Lake, and was first described in the well Anglo-Canadian Beaverhill Lake No. 2 (drilled south-east of the lake, near Ryley) by geological staff from Imperial Oil in 1950.

Duvernay Formation

The Duvernay Formation is a stratigraphical unit of Frasnian age in the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin. It was first described in well Anglo Canadian Beaverhill Lake No. 2 in LSD 11-11-50-17W4M by Imperial Oil staff in 1950. The Formation was named by Andrichuk and Wonfor in 1954 for Duvernay, Alberta.

Beaverhill Lake

Beaverhill Lake is a large lake in central Alberta, Canada. It is a site of regional importance in the Western Hemisphere Shorebird Reserve Network. It is managed by the Canadian Wildlife Service division of Environment Canada. It is located 70 km southeast of Edmonton, near the town of Tofield, and lies in the hydrographic basin of North Saskatchewan River. As recently as 1990, the lake had a total area of 139 km² and a maximum depth of only 2.3 m.
