Pelly, Saskatchewan

Pelly is an incorporated village in rural Saskatchewan, Canada. The village is the closest inhabited settlement to the historical sites of Fort Livingstone, a former capital of the North-West Territories and a former North-West Mounted Police headquarters, and Fort Pelly, the Swan River district headquarters for the Hudson's Bay Company, from which the village gets its name.

Fort Livingstone (Saskatchewan)

Fort Livingstone was founded as an outpost in Northwest Territories, Canada. The outpost briefly served as the capital city for North-West Territories government for the years of 1874 to 1876, and headquarters for the North-West Mounted Police for the same period, until they moved headquarters to Fort Macleod, Alberta. The site was designated a National Historic Site of Canada in 1923. It was also designated a provincial Protected Area in 1986. The nearest inhabited site is Pelly, Saskatchewan.

Fort Pelly

Fort Pelly was a Hudson's Bay Company fur trading post located in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan. The fort was probably named after Sir John Pelly, governor of the Hudson's Bay Company. The current village of Pelly, Saskatchewan, takes its name from the fort, and is located approximately 8 miles north of the site of the fort.
