Chira Island is a 3,000-hectare Costa Rican Pacific island located at the upper end of the Gulf of Nicoya, an extensive inlet of sea water that is the result of a geological fault that has caused the land to submerge, leaving exposed only the tops of what were formerly low hills. These are the various islands that dot the gulf, the largest of which being the Island of Chira - Costa Rica's second largest island.

Nandayure is the ninth canton in the province of Guanacaste in Costa Rica. The canton covers an area of 565.59 km², and has a population of 10,567. Its capital city is Carmona. The canton encompasses a piece of the coastline of the Gulf of Nicoya near the mouth of the Río Tempisque, including Isla Berrugate. It cuts across the center of the Nicoya Peninsula to the Pacific coast between the Río Ora to the north and the Río Bongo to the south.

Puente La Amistad de Taiwán
Puente La Amistad de Taiwán spans the Tempisque River, in Guanacaste, northern Costa Rica. Although generally known as a cable-stayed bridge, it is really a hybrid bridge composed of a cable-stayed span and a pillar-supported bridge. The cable-stayed section has two spans of 170 and 90 metres, supported by an 80-metre-high pylon. The total length of the bridge is 780 metres with eight supporting pillars and the pylon. Abangares is the seventh canton in the province of Guanacaste in Costa Rica. The canton covers an area of 675.76 km², and has a population of 17,289. Its capital city is Las Juntas. The canton begins on the coastline of the Gulf of Nicoya north of the mouth of the Río Abangares. It widens between the Río Lajas on the northwest and Río Lagartos on the east as it reaches up into the Cordillera de Tilarán.
